I did it, I bought a camper van.
Maybe it was me turning 45 or watching everyone living their dreams on tiktok. I have had a pintrest board of camper vans for years so I already knew what I wanted. My budget however dictated what that dream really was going to look like for me. Driving a Mercedes camper van was out of the question, darn my champagne dreams. I found my coors light of vans and I jumped for the chance to own her. My 1993 GMC Vandura is all mine, now it’s time to name her. Blue River it is and she is perfect for all my needs of freedom on the open road.
BLUE RIVER BEFORE PHOTOS
I only did a small remodel because I wanted to use it before I really made any big changes, I’m going to wait on the major remodel.
Let’s get to the basics.
I added wallpaper, changed out the knobs and painted a wall and mirror to make it feel more my aesthetic.
I love the boho look that I see in most van remodels, I started the process designing the boho look for my van, but in the end I stayed true to my funky bohemian self. I added lots of pillows and a navy blue leather ottoman and of course one black boho basket.
It was a must to get new covers for the driving seats and to install gray window treatments above the sofa bed.
My absolute favorite thing is my flip up river side table. I still collect rocks like I’m a small child and this summer I had the chance to collect more rocks with my friends kids at Moonstone Beach in Cambria. The Bucks and Maxeys all gave me rocks to put in my table for my van and it is by far my favorite thing that I did to make Blue River my home on the road.
I really can’t narrow it all down, I would love to say it was because of COVID or a break up or even turning 45 that made me get the van but, It was me reaching a point in my life where I had to take care of myself and I needed to tackle my depression and anxiety. It is a struggle and it will continue be a struggle for me but I’m no longer going to live in fear or delay my dreams!
